Paternina Blue Band Wine 2nd Year

Founded in 1896, Federico Paternina establishes this winery on a site with cellars excavated in the 16th century in Ollauri Rioja Alta. Its origins go back to Eduardo de Paternina, father of Federico and Marqués de Terán, one of the pioneers of modern viticulture in Rioja at the request of his close friend the Baron de Rothschild, who had acquired Château Brane Mouton years before.

Destemming of the cluster and gentle grinding of the berries. Fermentation was carried out in contact with the skins and with several daily pump-overs. With a temperature of 25ºC.

Aged for 12 months in medium toasted American oak barrels.

It goes well with grilled meats, poultry, salami, duck a l'orange, white rice, quinoa or almond cake.

CATA's notes

Ruby red in color with tile iridescences, brilliant. With excellent reduction tone.

Very elegant on the nose given its fine aging bouquet and hints of vanilla.

Very polished on the palate, meaty and complex. Refreshing, elegant and attractive.
