History

José Abascal (1743-1821) as a patron gives his name to the umbrella brand and quality seal Marqués de la Concordia. Abascal was crowned by the Spanish King Ferdinand VII in 1812 with the noble title of Marqués de la Concordia de Perú. In his role as viceroy, he expedited social reform, the transfer of knowledge, and cooperation between Creoles and Spaniards in the best concord.

Elaboration

The vineyards are located exclusively in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, in the extreme northwest of the most prestigious denomination of origin in Spain. The vineyards grow at 650 m asl on calcareous clayey soils with low nutrition. The intense maceration for the extraction of phenols is achieved through frequent racking.

Fermentation at a controlled temperature is carried out in stainless steel tanks at a maximum temperature of 26ºC. Aging takes place for 24 months in French and American barrels.
